Working in Taiwan
Part-Time Work While Studying in Taiwan
Important Guidelines for Student Work:
- You must obtain a valid work permit before starting any job, whether on-campus or off-campus.
- Students are permitted to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester.
- During summer and winter breaks, this hour limit does not apply.
- Working without a permit is illegal and may result in a fine ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$150,000 along with possible deportation.
For detailed instructions on how to apply for a work permit, contact your university’s international office or designated support center.

Employment Opportunities After Graduation
Taiwan’s open and modern workforce offers international graduates a chance to continue their professional journey after completing their studies. To retain global talent, the Taiwanese government has introduced more flexible post-graduation work policies.
Graduates from Taiwanese universities are now allowed to extend their stay for six months immediately after graduation to search for employment. This extension is intended to support students who have already become familiar with the local culture, environment, and language.
If additional time is needed for job searching or work permit processing, graduates can apply for another six-month extension, providing up to one full year in Taiwan to transition into employment.
